Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026. Applies to the diurnalapp.ai website and, for device storage, to the Diurnal.ai app.

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies (browser storage, device storage, pixels) we use, why, and how you control them. It is issued by PUREQUAD SRL (Romania) under the EU ePrivacy Directive as implemented in the member states, the GDPR, the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and, for US residents, the CCPA/CPRA and the other state privacy laws. It is part of our Privacy Policy.

In short. The website sets one strictly necessary item of browser storage, to remember your cookie choice. It sets no analytics and no advertising cookies, and no third-party tracking pixels. All fonts and images are served from our own server: the website loads nothing from third-party hosts (no Google Fonts, no image services), so no other company receives your IP address when you visit. The categories in the consent panel exist so that nothing can be added later without your permission. The mobile app uses no cookies; it stores your data on your device so it works offline.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Browser storage (localStorage) works in a similar way but is not sent to the server with every request. Device storage in an app is the same idea on a phone. Rules that apply to cookies apply to all of these.

2. Your choice, and how to change it

On your first visit the website asks you to choose (except on the short pages that open a shared training or a friend invite in the app, diurnalapp.ai/t/... and /f/..., which store nothing in your browser and send nothing to our app server). "Accept all", "Reject all" and "Manage preferences" are offered with equal prominence, no box is pre-ticked, and closing the dialog is not treated as consent. Your choice is stored on your device for 6 months, after which we ask again. You can change it at any time from "Cookie settings" in the website footer, or here:

Open cookie settings

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, and the panel starts with that opt-out switched on. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking the strictly necessary item only means we will ask for your choice again.

No cookie or browser storage is used; your IP address is only combined with the browser type into a code that changes every day, so a visit cannot be linked to you or to your other days; the IP address itself is not stored. Not sent when your browser uses Global Privacy Control, and never for the pages that open a shared training or a friend invite (/t/... and /f/...), so their codes never reach our server.25 months (counts)Diurnal.ai
Analytics cookiesNone. Any analytics that uses cookies or identifiers would run only for visitors who allowed the "Analytics" category and this table would be updated first.
MarketingNone. We run no advertising, retargeting or social media pixels. Any future use would require the "Marketing" category to be allowed and would be listed here first.

4. What the mobile app stores on your device

The app does not use cookies. It keeps your data in the phone's app storage so it works offline and starts instantly: your profiles, routines, meals, sleep, lab reports, conversations, settings, the genetic panel and the cycle log (device only), your Sport data, the GPS tracks and saved routes of your activities (device only), the daily values read from Apple Health or Health Connect (device only), the caffeine log and lab recheck reminders (device only), your consent choices, reminder schedules, and usage counters for the free allowance. On iPhone, a short list of today's and tomorrow's routine items (without names in Anonymous mode) is kept in storage shared with the app's widget and Siri shortcuts. Security tokens and any API key you add for your own AI provider are kept in the device's secure keychain. All of this is deleted when you use Settings → Delete all data or uninstall the app, and it can be exported first. The app uses no advertising identifiers and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs; our own app usage statistics run only if you switch them on. Route maps are shown with Apple Maps on iPhone and, in Android versions that include it, with the Google Maps SDK, which sends Google technical data (such as your IP address, device model and map interactions) under Google's privacy policy. Details of what syncs to our server, and why, are in the Privacy Policy.

5. Changes

If we add a cookie or storage item that needs your consent, the consent panel will ask you again before it runs, and this page will be updated first. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
